He didn’t have a single penny on his name, but getting his dog back was all he cared about. A homeless young man sleeps outside an animal shelter, hoping his lost dog will show up.

An employee of DeKalb County Animal Services, Georgia arrives at work that morning and finds the man on the sidewalk outside their shelter. When they woke him up, they learned that he had spent the last of his money bringing the bus to them after he lost his dog. He waited for them to open to see if they’d found it.

It turns out they have. The shelter had picked up a stray two weeks earlier and took him to his new facility on the other side of town. Then a dog breeder did a good job that spreads quickly.

The shelter worker paid for his train ticket so he could get to the other location and meet his dog, Tata. The camera captured the reunion and the shelter wrote, “We’re seeing some great encounters here at LifeLines DeKalb Animal Services, but this meeting was very special.”

The shelter was so affected by the effective reunification that they waived all fees and helped the man through a contact program – a program that helps homeless people with their dogs.

I am so happy to see that he has been reunited with his dog. Share this warm encounter with your friends and family if you are also happy when you see them.
