Soda has been a popular drink since its invention. However, there is a darker side hidden behind the fizzy sweetness. On top of their high sugar levels, they include plenty of potentially harmful ingredients.

Although the beverage’s production may seem harmless, it isn’t! According to several studies, even the earliest forms of Coca-Cola had traces of cocaine. Although current versions lack cocaine, the drink still contains several potentially harmful substances.

There exist cancer-causing substances in today’s Soda. 4-mel, also known as 4-methylimidazole, is a toxic and harmful component of the beverage. Being a product of caramel coloring, 4-Mel is generated when ammonia sulfite, ammonia, and sugar combine. There have been petitions to prohibit the use of 4-Mel. The FDA made a statement on NPR indicating that people need to drink more than 1,000 cans of Soda a day to achieve the dosages demonstrated in rats that cause cancer.

Your body is more affected by Soda than you realize. In the first place, it’s a hefty dose of sugar. There is an equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar in one can of Soda! This quantity of sugar may cause an insulin shortage or diabetes in those who consume it. Caffeine levels are so high in this beverage. See the infographic above if you’d want to learn more about what Soda does to your health.
