Among other things, our views on water fluoridation have recently changed. This chemical has been linked to a wide range of health problems.
UK researchers have been able to perform an important investigation on the possible health impacts of fluoride in drinking water. Fluoride has been linked to an increased risk of hypothyroidism after researchers analyzed data from almost every medical practice in England. Obesity, fatigue, and even depression may occur from a deficiency of thyroid hormones in a person.
There has never been research that included a large sample size to examine the harmful consequences of high fluoride exposure. Ninety-nine percent of England’s more than 8,000 medical practices were surveyed. These findings suggest that fluoride in the water is causing up to 15,000 individuals to experience depression, muscular pain, and weight gain.
Regarding thyroid disease, women are 15 times more likely than males to suffer from the condition. Long-term health consequences may result from this practice. Fluoridation of our water supplies must be curtailed in some manner. Fluoride reduces the thyroid’s capacity to utilize iodine, which is needed for a healthy thyroid and a common worry for women with hypothyroidism.
