Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is one of such harmful products.
MSG is one of the silent killers we have around and its effects are known to be more dangerous compared to those of street drugs, nicotine and alcohol. There are chances that you might be having MSG in your kitchen cabinet. It is popularly found in Chinese food where it commonly used as a flavor enhancer. This lethal killer is also present in many supermarket foods and our families consume it regularly. We are exposed to the danger of consuming it since nowadays most of us eat processed or fast food from supermarkets. MSG is present in most of these foods and it is hard to detect it since an alias name is used their production.
There are harmful side effects associated with the consumption of this food enhancer. Since MSG is cheap, it is one of the preferred flavor enhancers and it can be found in salad dressings, meats, crackers, and canned soups. In some instances it can be found in baby food, school lunches and infant formula.
The biggest producer of MSG is known as Ajinomoto. The company is also a popular drug manufacturer. It was until the advent of World War II that MSG became popular in the US. American soldiers found out that Japanese food had a better taste. According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, who is a certified neurosurgeon, MSG can harm one’s brain and worsen or trigger learning disabilities such as Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and the Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Russell further explains that several glutamate receptors exist within the heart muscle and the heart’s electrical conduction system. It may be responsible for the sudden deaths reported among young athletes – which is why the consumption of MSG should be discouraged.
