If your weight loss goals fail in 2019, the New Year, 2020, affords you another opportunity to defeat your state of being over-weight. Not taking your weight loss goals seriously in 2019 is a calamity waiting to happen. You can not afford to continue to postpone the evil day.
Here is how you can achieve your weight loss goals in 2020
Make it very simple for yourself
Do not attempt to make your weight loss goals very difficult for yourself. It makes a lot of sense for you to start with just one habit. When you remove one bad habit from your life, make sure that you replace it with a good habit that will be healthy for you in the long run.
For example, when you stop using sugar in your tea, you can replace it with honey immediately. By so doing, you won’t feel disadvantaged in any way.
Be very specific about your goal
Ensure that your goals are very specific. If you do not make specific goals, you will only find yourself moving in circles.
For example, if you say you want to loose a lot of weight, it is a sign you are not being specific about your goals. To specific, you have to attach a number to your goal of weight shedding. You can say want to loose 10 pounds of weight or 20, etc. That is how to be very specific. You must also be realistic. If 10 pound or 20 pound will be a tall order for you, then, you can start from 5 pounds.
Set timelines for your goals
Saying you want to loose weight by 10 or 20 pound is just a goal. But, having just a number in mind without having a timeline or date to achieve the goal would amount to a waste of time. It is like studying a course in the University without having an idea on when to graduate.
When fixing a date to achieve your goal, take your calendar to choose a realistic date. Do not put yourself in a tight corner; choose a date that is very convenient for you. Try to memorize the date so as to use it to appraise yourself as days go by. Setting a date to achieve your goal keeps you motivated.
Loosing weight is a very though task. You can not achieve it all alone. Getting your closest friends or your immediate family members to be a pool of support for you is key. They are partners in progress because they will always help you to monitor your progress by being very observant; by so doing, you can compare what they say with what you have observed and check if any real progress has been made.
Make room for lapses
In achieving your weight loss goals, there would be lapses. There would days that you will feel like giving yourself a treat. There would be days you won’t feel like going for a workout. All of these lapses are not unforeseen.
Set the next goal
After achieving one health related goal like weight loss, there is need to set another goal. It is at this point that many people return to their old lives. They feel they have achieved their goals, so, there is nothing more. Always be proactive. Envisage the next goal after achieving one weight loss goal. There are goals upon goals to be set when it comes to weight loss. You can set another goal by going for a new type of exercise or start a new type of diet. Never be complacent!
