Scott Welch, a 40-year-old New Zealander, is a passionate fisherman. He passed this passion on to his 12-year-old son Rico. The two go hunting with Kronar, the boy’s uncle, when the opportunity arises. They have been to several strange places where they have caught all kinds of rare fish.

The three planned their next fishing trip. They decided to go out to sea in a motorboat. In the morning, having prepared everything, they set out on a boat to the south coast, where they hoped to catch some good fish.
After a few hours, the three had caught a lot of fish and Riku, the 12-year-old, was very excited. The weather started to deteriorate, with high winds blowing from the west. Being far from the coast, the men decided to go home.

Scott steered the boat with Kronar and Rico stayed on deck to enjoy the scenery. A great wave hit the boat and it shook violently. At that moment, Rikuo fell into the sea. Scott and Kronar were unaware that the boy had fallen, so they steered the boat further away from the boy who had fallen into the water.

After 5 minutes, Scott notices Rico is missing and immediately returns the boat. He could see Riku in the water from afar.
When they got there, the boy couldn’t float because of the waves and drowned.

As he prepares to jump into the water, Scott and Cronard witness an amazing spectacle. A killer whale family swam around Rico.
One of the whales sank and nudged the boy by the boat with its snout so Scott could catch the boy.
