Her husband, Dyan, and his wife, Alik, lost each other in the crowd of desperate refugees, and the proof that the two were married was destroyed, Alik ended up being registered by the authorities as a single mother. She and her children were taken to Fort Worth, Texas.
Dyan was registered as a man without a family, and these are the last priority, they go last to safe places, so he could not find his family and did not know how to find them.
Alik (also pregnant with the third child) fell into the hands of two volunteers from a Catholic refugee agency who helped her give birth to her third child. For years the two helped her take care of the little ones while looking for her father, everything lasted 4 years. Whatever they did, everything was in vain.
